Rise and Shine: What you need to know before the ASX opens

The day ahead

On the local data calendar, there’s retail sales data for July at 11:30am AEST, where Westpac says the preliminary showed “a solid gain, but August is looking soft”.

Then to cap off a big week, the US will report all-important jobs numbers for August later tonight.
