Round two at Morissey: high-grade copper hits add to lithium endowment

Gascoyne-focused Reach Resources has been back out to its Morrissey Hill tenement at Yinnetharra and returned covered in copper after reporting encouraging assays of up to 33.2% Cu.
This follows up from the company’s announcement earlier this week of a high-grade lithium discovery at the site.
Significant results stem from an outcropping quartz-veined gossan (a rust-coloured oxide that typifies ore deposits) , including 33.2% Cu, 0.2g/t Au and 141.8g/t Ag at 23RRRK0039 and 14.7% Cu, 0.02g/t Au and 55.6g/t Ag at 23RRRK0042 within the Swallowtail prospect.
Swallowtail was identified as a structural target at the contact between the Leake Springs Metamorphic and Thirty Three Supersuite Granite at Morrissey Hill, located at the northern margin of the Mutherbukin Tectonic Zone.
The company reckons the Gascoyne province it’s operating in is one of the most under-explored mining regions in the country, partly due to the success of the nearby Yilgarn mining precinct.
The Gascoyne hosts a variety of mineralisation styles including rare earths, rare metal pegmatites, oregenic gold, base metals and tungsten.
Reach Resources (ASX:RR1) boss Jeremy Bower said Morrissey Hill continues to deliver and sees the latest results as a “huge opportunity” to further prove up the region.
“These are outstanding copper results and in conjunction with the 2.3% Li2O announced earlier this week, it is clear how prospective the ground is,” Bower said.
“We’re focused on sourcing the critical and battery minerals of the future and copper is an important part of our strategy.
“Despite several world class copper-gold and polymetallic base metal deposits in the East Capricorn Orogen, the West Capricorn and Gascoyne has been massively under-explored.”
Fully-funded RR1 is to complete the rest of its field and drilling programs earmarked for this year
“Our focus remains on thorough geochemical assessment of each target and getting drill rigs out to Morrissey Hill as soon as possible,” Bower said.
“This will mean consistent news flow for our shareholders over the coming months.”
