Weekly ASX small cap wrap: Who’s making dining out creepy this week?

Restaurants are reopening and we will soon be able to enjoy a meal out with our loved ones, as long as said eatery has not exceeded its mandated capacity at least.

One restaurant in Sydney has added cardboard cutouts to fill tables and will play background “chatter” on its speakers in a bid to make diners feel more comfortable.

We are not sure if the scheme has paid off or if Sydneysiders are so sick of isolation that they will do anything to get out, but Five Dock Dining has already filled two sittings.

Meanwhile, a restaurant in the US plans to place mannequins at its tables to ensure that social distancing rules are followed by making it less awkward when customers are allowed to return.

The mannequins will be dressed in 1940s attire and will be served wine at The Inn at Little Washington.

However, we think that this particular scheme might have evolved from making things less awkward to just being downright creepy.

Before you head out for a meal (with or without cutouts or mannequins), here are some of this week’s biggest small cap movers on the ASX.

ASX SMALL CAP WINNERS                       

TNT Mines (ASX:TIN) +302%

Exploding to the top of the charts after acquiring a historic high-grade uranium project in the US, TNT Mines’ timing could not be better given the growing optimism around the sector.

TNT Mines has inked a binding agreement to acquire the historic high-grade East Canyon uranium and vanadium project in Dry Valley/East Canyon mining district, Utah.

The district lies within the wider Uravan Mineral Belt, an important source of uranium and vanadium ore in the US for more than 100 years.

Historic production from Uravan comprises +85 million pounds of uranium at an average grade of more than 0.13 per cent and 660 million pounds of vanadium at an average grade of 1.3 per cent.

Metalicity (ASX:MCT) +100%

Shares in the company doubled after announcing that it would kick off a drilling program at its Kookynie gold project near Leonora, Western Australia.

Previous drilling by the company returned results of up to 5m at 17.9 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 48m including 1m at 80.17g/t gold from 51m.

ASX SMALL CAP LOSERS

CML Group (ASX:CGR) -44%

Shares in CML Group fell sharply after a potential takeover offer from Scottish Pacific Group Limited fell through.

In terminating the agreement, Scottish Pacific issued a notice which “set out its concerns that events may have occurred which constituted a material adverse effect on CML’s business”, the company said.
