• Over 500m of thick, high-grade lithium is confirmed at the APOOO3/APOOO4 pegmatite over 500m strike
  • >1km and 450m of down-dip visual spodumene observed at the same pegmatite
  • Drilling continues at Target Areas 1 and 3 to define Andover’s maiden resource
  • Azure’s share price is up >1,400% in the last year alone

Special Report: Azure Minerals’ Andover lithium project is shaping up as an absolute giant after another flurry of assay results confirmed Target Area 3 as one of the company’s “highest ranked lithium targets”.

With an exploration target of between 100-240Mt @ 1-1.5% Li20, Azure Minerals’ (ASX:AZS) Andover project in the WA Pilbara continues to prove its world-class lithium credentials.

Ongoing success via a drilling blitz across Andover’s three target areas is expected to result in a sizeable maiden resource in Q1 2024 – something that has attracted big players like SQM, Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN), and Hancock Prospecting to the register.

Thick pegmatites at Target Area 3 confirmed

Drill assays from Target Area 3 confirm consistently thick, high-grade lithium mineralisation over 500m strike, with highlight results including:

  • 37.0m @ 1.22% Li2O from 22.8m (~35.8m True Width)
  • 66.9m @ 1.18% Li2O from 41.0m (~35.7m True Width)
  • 36.6m @ 1.16% Li2O from 15.5m (~36.5m True Width)
  • 65.4m @ 1.11% Li2O from 29.0m (~35.8m True Width)
  • 34.9m @ 1.57% Li2O from 41.1m (~34.2m True Width)

It also observed high percentages of spodumene mineralisation in the drill core from the AP0001 and AP0002 pegmatites measuring up to 33.9m in thickness.

On the visual side of things while assays are at the lab, known strike length of the Target Area 3 pegmatites looks like it’s doubled from the confirmed 500m up to ~1km with visualised spodumene up to 91.6m in thickness.

Huge numbers. Take a look:

Five diamond rigs are continuing to test the AP0001-AP0005 pegmatites at the target area and three diamond and one RC rig continue to conduct infill and extensional drilling at Target Area 1.

To date, 33 diamond core holes have been completed for 7,258m at Target Area 3, and overall, exploration drilling at Andover has to date drilled an massive 125 diamond core holes for 38,346m, 91 RC holes for 17,238m, 36 RC pre-collars for 7,718m, and 25 diamond core tails for 5,351m.

The continual delivery of the substantial results we’ve seen over the past six months from both Target Areas 1 and 3 strongly supports our exploration target and confirms that Andover is a lithium project of global significance,” AZS MD Tony Rovira told Stockhead.

“We’re very pleased that our initial drilling has delivered such strong results, with numerous broad, high-grade lithium intersections returned from pegmatites extending >100m of strike length.

“Encouragingly, the early visual identification of substantial quantities of spodumene in the drill core has been validated by corresponding high-grade lithium assays returned from those same intervals.

“Drilling is continuing with many holes intersecting visible spodumene and expanding the known extents of the mineralised system to well over 1km in strike length, auguring well for additional mineralised intersections to be reported in the near future.

“These results justify TA3’s early status as one of Azure’s highest-ranked lithium targets at Andover.”

The strong results give AZS confidence in an upcoming maiden mineral resource. Stay tuned.
