Manganese grades up to 16m thick at 17.9% from 17m at Jamieson tank demonstrate encouraging intervals of sustained mineralisation from shallow depth and indicate a simple mining process going forward.

The significant intercepts are from a total of 1756 sample assays returned from the 94 drill hole program ChemX Materials (ASX:CMX) provide the thickest and highest grade intercepts of the 20223 exploration campaign.

The tenements have been subject to significant exploration by previous tenement owners, providing valuable data for ChemX to mount a successful exploration campaign and provide a manganese feedstock for its High Purity Manganese project. The Company already has two MoUs with potential customers to enter qualification by undertaking test work on the manganese product.

Plans for a mineral resource estimation underway

CMX chief supervising geologist Dr John Parker adds the higher-grade manganese occurs as continuous bands in a relatively shallow, folded sequence of banded iron formation.

“The zone of shallow high-grade mineralisation is around 200m wide and extends over 2km in strike length but ongoing geological modelling, complemented by geophysics, geological logging and assays, will support the planned mineral resource estimate.”

ChemX CEO Mark Thomas says the company is extremely pleased with the 2023 drill campaign and will now work closely with ERM Australia Consultants, trading as CSA Global, to estimate a mineral resource in accordance with the JORC code.

“The mineral resource estimation will support future preliminary mine optimisation plans and provide confidence in the quality and quantity of the feedstock, for the beneficiation of the manganese resource, ultimately destined for the global battery grade manganese market,” he explains.
