DATA DUMP
Overnight in the states, housing starts edged 0.5% lower to 1.427m in November.
That’s a third straight fall as stubbornly high home prices and rising mortgage rates keep first time home buyers away. And meanwhile, US building permits sank 11.2% to 1.342m, the lowest since June 2020 and well below expectations of 1.485 million.
Today at home, we’re watching for the detail in skilled job vacancies for November.

A late year resurgence continues for Gavin Wendt favourite PolarX (ASX:PXX).
The North America-focused gold-copper explorer is now up ~80% over the past few days thanks to an investment from major gold miner Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST).
Amaero International (ASX:3DA) was another stock to gain to two days in a row, up 70% since trade opened Monday.
The company will hold an investor briefing Thursday, 22 December to discuss the binding joint venture agreement for additive manufacturing and powder production in Abu Dhabi.
“[Chairman and CEO Hank] Holland will provide an overview of the opportunity, background on the joint venture partner, each partner’s obligations and the path forward,” the company says.
