ESG
Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunchtime Thursday June 28.
The ASX Small Ords was down 0.26 per cent or 7.5 points at 2865.5 at 1pm AEST.
MOST TRADED
For the second day running popular lithium stock AVZ Minerals (ASX:AVZ) was the morning’s most active small cap with 38 million shares changing hands by 1pm AEST.
AVZ today told investors it had notched a new record while drilling for lithium in the Congo. The news comes a day after the company revealed Klaus Eckhof had resigned as chairman.
The stock is now up 40 per cent in two days — though still well down on its 37c one-year high.
The shares were up 15 per cent at 11.5c at 1.15pm AEST.
GOING UP
Former aquaculture player Cervantes (ASX:CVS) has literally struck gold in Western Australia – and high-grade gold at that – sending its shares through the roof.
The stock rose 142 per cent to an intra-day high of 1.7c after Cervantes told investors it had hit gold grades of up to 202.8 grams per tonne – more than 6 ounces per tonne – at just 33m deep.
Anything above 5g/t is considered high-grade.
The company is undertaking drilling at its Albury Heath project, which is in the same region as Metals X’s (ASX:MLX) Bluebird gold mine and Doray Minerals’ (ASX:DRM) Andy Well mine.
The shares settled back to 1c by 1.15pm AEST.
Cleantech Greenpower Energy (ASX:GPP) rose 25 per cent to 0.5c this morning just before going into a trading halt.
The coal-to-liquid technology developer lost ground in May after tests went awry.
Today Greenpower told investors the shares were suspended ahead of an announcement expected by July 2.
The company is testing whether the liquid that comes out of its coal-to-liquid process might be useful as a fertiliser, or “bio-stimulant” in their words.
Outdoor advertiser XTD (ASX:XTD) gained 22 per cent to 3.3c by 1.15pm AEST after renewing a sales deal with APN Outdoor until 2021.
Under the deal APN will continue to market ads onto XTD’s digital screen networks in Melbourne and Brisbane.
Solar-power glass maker ClearVue Technologies (ASX:CPV) again made strong gains after telling investors yesterday it had achieved a breakthrough in development, building a “frame-independent” insulated glass unit.
By midday today the stock had put on 50 per cent in two days to reach 19c — just below its May issue price of 20c.
In previous designs, ClearVue’s glass product captured solar in photo-voltaic cells around the edge of a window frame, then converted these to energy.
In the new model, it can now capture solar energy through the glass unit itself without the need for the frame.
