The West Coast was on a holiday for Labour Day today but ASX saw a solid trading day with large caps seeing more of the gains.

The ASX 200 rose 1.74 per cent to 6,790 while the ASX Small Ords finished up 0.87 per cent at 3,151. Smaller caps didn’t fare as well with the ASX Emerging Companies Index falling by 0.32 per cent to 2,039.

All sectors were in the green though real estate and healthcare were particularly strong, recording gains of 3.15 per cent and 2.65 per cent respectively while resources gained the least, rising just 0.3 per cent.

Finishing on top was industrial stock and UK gas well owner AJ Lucas (ASX:AJL), which finished the day up 100 per cent after its half yearly results.

Additive manufacturer Titomic (ASX:TTT) signed a partnership with Christopher Pyne and his advisory firm to identify business opportunities in the defence sector.

Senex Energy (ASX:SXY) completed the $87.5 million sale of its Cooper Basin business to Beach Energy (ASX:BPT) and it would be paying an additional 0.5 cent per share dividend to shareholders on top of the initial 0.5 cent per share dividend it announced last week.

Simble Solutions (ASX:SIS) gave a business update for the first two months of 2021 – announcing meters under management grew by 4.2 per cent. But recurring revenues attributed to its CarbonView platform grew by 94 per cent.

Brewer Mighty Craft (ASX:MCL) won a $500,000 grant from the South Australian Tourism Industry Development Fund. The money will upgrade the company’s distillery on Kangaroo Island.

Gold and copper explorer Alice Queen (ASX:AQX) gave an update on its project in the Lachlan Ford Belt. The company declared its latest exploration results showed evidence of a porphyry system – porphyry being a type of rock renowned for significant amounts of copper (up to 60 per cent of copper in the world).

The ASX announced it had delisted 6 companies for failing to pay listing fees including Liquified Natural Gas (ASX:LNG) and MCB Resources (ASX:MCB).
