Rare earth stocks continue to win the popularity contest this week, with Heavy Rare Earths (ASX:HRE) hitting thick, high-grade clay REEs at the 28Mt Cowalinya project in WA, including 8m @ 3057ppm TREO from 27m.

159m mineralised intercepts have now been logged in the newly discovered 13sqkm Western Zone, which has the potential “to host a material increase in rare earths resources”, the company says.

Assays are pending from 36 holes and once received, the process to update the resource will commence.

Advance Metals (ASX:AVM) has signed an MOU with World Industrial Minerals Group to create a special purpose vehicle (SPV) called Bandera Mining Co LLC to invest in and acquire a range of critical and base metals projects across North America – and they’ve already identified several highly prospective areas in Texas.

In the graphite space, International Graphite (ASX:IG6) has flagged its fourth high-grade find at the Springdale Graphite project in WA, with assays from the previously undrilled exploration target Mason Bay showing returning results such as 15m at 11.3% Total Graphitic Carbon (TGC) from 38m downhole.

“We expect to revise the mineral resource estimate for the Springdale Graphite Project as soon as we have the remaining assays for both Springdale and Mason Bay,” MD and CEO Andrew Worland said.

Graphite is in the spotlight because it’s an important component in lithium batteries and EVs – and the demand for this raw material is expected to increase in the short term.

On average, a plug-in EV requires approximately 75kg of graphite, making it one of the largest components.

And Errawarra Resources (ASX:ERW), also announced today its identified graphite outcrops at the Errabiddy tenement, right next door to  Buxton Resources’ (ASX:BUX) 4Mt @16.2% TGC Graphite Bull project in WA.

Don’t forget that lithium is still cool though. Mandrake Resources (ASX:MAN) has increased its acreage at the Utah Lithium Project in the prolific ‘lithium four corners’ Paradox Basin southeast Utah.

They’ve now got 76,850 acres (~311km2) of prime lithium ground with staking ongoing.
