Patriot Hydrogen’s portable P2H units are being deployed in a major project in Western Australia’s Kimberley region, which is seeking alternatives to aging diesel generators.

Emerging renewables company Patriot Hydrogen Ltd has struck a deal with Western Australia’s Kimberley Clean Energy (KCE) to supply its portable Patriot to Hydrogen (P2H) units for hydrogen and power production.

KCE, based in Broome, has signed a memorandum of understanding for 75 P2H units as part of its plan to decarbonise the entire value chain of their operation and develop baseload renewable energy, green hydrogen, and fertiliser to support a cleaner future for the Kimberley region.

The P2H units will not only supply energy but also create green hydrogen and bio-fertilisers. Additionally, the units create biochar which can be used to support the health of livestock and soils on farmland used to produce beef.

The first units will be used at Kilto Station — owned by KCE co-founder Jack Burton — who recently started a small abattoir to service markets around the Kimberley and Pilbara, including restaurants and local tourism operators.

The P2H units will be used to operate Kilto Station’s abattoir, irrigation and homestead complex and assist in diverting a waste stream into a fertiliser product for the irrigation and farming lands.

Kimberley Clean Energy will then seek supply contracts for energy across the Kimberley over the next 5 years.

 

Patriot Hydrogen joins with major Singapore fuel tech to develop P2H units

Earlier this week, Patriot announced it had signed a joint venture with Singaporean renewable fuel technology company CAC-H₂.

Under the deal, CAC-H₂ will be the exclusive technical and mechanical advisor and supplier for the modular, portable P2H units, which are designed to produce syngas, hydrogen, green energy, and biochar throughout Australia.

Remote communities dependent on transportable power view the extremely mobile P2H as the best solution to aging diesel generators, providing Patriot with access to a lucrative market.

With interest shown across a range of industries, the company expects to see rapid expansion around Australia and even internationally.

 

Capital raise to fund working capital

 Patriot and CAC-H₂ have engaged Liberty Energy Capital to work as advisors to raise money for working capital in pre-IPO funding.

Liberty is coordinating to raise funds through its advisors, along with a strategy to list Patriot on a suitable securities exchange either in Australia, Canada, or the United States.

CAC-H₂ CEO Glenn Davies said it was excited to be supporting KCE’s decarbonising strategy and will deliver a total closed-loop solution covering all aspects of their business including waste to energy, green hydrogen, and bio-fertiliser via green ammonia production.

“Our mobile units will also produce biochar to support the health of livestock and is considered a Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS) technology and negative emission technology (NET) by the IPCC,” Davies said.

CAC-H₂ Director Arman Massoumi said deployment of the P2H units at Kilto Station was a perfect example of energy transition at work for a healthier planet.

“Imagine to be fully powered with green energy from waste at a lower cost than diesel,” he said.

“It is absolutely amazing to see KCE can achieve this and cool the planet at the same time. We are honoured to be associated with this very exciting partnership – a truly sustainable project.”

KCE Co-Founder and CEO Richard Paterson said the project was an absolute game changer for both remote energy in the Kimberley, as well as for agriculture and the meat industry more broadly.

“The opportunity of taking a waste stream, inclusive of woody weeds, and turning them into a carbon negative power supply chain that will build resilience into our agricultural systems is very exciting and we look forward to seeing the first plant operational,” he said.

 

Patriot seeks key partnerships to support growth

 Patriot also has plans to develop further hydrogen assets with emerging renewables player Sweetman Renewables.

Sweetman have also entered a joint venture with CAC-H₂ to establish Australia’s first wood-fed hydrogen production plant, and the country’s largest green bio-hydrogen production eco-hub in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales.

Patriot is positioning to capitalise on renewable bioenergy to service growing demand into the future with key partnerships and aims to use state-of-the-art technology to make renewable hydrogen a mobile, efficient, and accessible power source.
