Zipmex, an APAC-based crypto-trading platform, is aiming to grow the adoption of digital assets in Australia with a series of partnerships that include the NRL’s Penrith Panthers and the A-League’s Central Coast Mariners.

The platform, which has offices in Singapore, Sydney, Bangkok and Indonesia, recently raised US$11 million in a series B funding round from various large investors including B Capital among several others.

So what’s with the sports partnerships? It’s clearly a no-brainer association for crypto companies in the sports-mad land down under. We’ve seen AFL, cricket and motorsports collaborations with the crypto and NFT world increasing over the past few months.

And this one appears to be all about the educational engagement angle, and actually also extends two community rugby league teams – the Wyong Rugby League Football Club and Penrith Brothers RLFC – as well as another roundball club, the Penrith Rovers.

Guess someone at Zipmex digs the Penrith and Central Coast regions.

Panthers home-game airdrops – up to $500 in Bitcoin

Zipmex plans to host a series of educational workshops within these sports communities “to improve crypto literacy for beginners”, according to a press release shared with Stockhead.

The crypto exchange will also have a regular presence at Panthers home games, offering various fan benefits including airdrops of up to $500 AUD in Bitcoin, Ethereum giveaways and NFTs associated with prominent players.

The deal with the Central Coast Mariners, meanwhile will see Zipmex make regular appearances at games there, focusing on crypto workshop engagement. And a similar strategy will be followed with the three aforementioned grassroots community clubs.

Nathan Halliday, Country Manager of Zipmex Australia, described the Panthers and Mariners as two of the most “community-focused professional sporting clubs in Australia”.

“We have always focused on education and these partnerships allow us to deeply engage with these communities and help them to get started with digital assets in a safe way,” added Halliday.

Zipmex is also aiming to reel in more Australian crypto users through a $20 sign-up bonus, applying the promo code: PRSPORTS. That offer ends on May 31. (This is not sponsored content, just mentioning it if interested.)
