Former ASX-listed company and tech unicorn Animoca Brands has launched its newest play-to-earn blockchain game, REVV Racing.

The skill-based action automotive racing game gives players full, real-time first-person control of their car, Animoca says.

The game opened to the public yesterday with the Alpha Inaugural, a tournament through August 17 that offers a US$150,000 prize pool.

The cars are non-fungible tokens on the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain, a sidechain of Ethereum.

They were already being bought and sold on secondary marketplace Opensea, where over 11,000 were listed yesterday afternoon. The cars were selling for around 0.035 Ether, or A$150.

“REVV Racing is not going to be your typical blockchain game: we are merging the thrill and skill of real-time 3D car racing with the advantages of blockchain, including true ownership of in-game assets, play-to-earn, and enhanced security,” Animoca co-founder and chairman Yat Siu says.

“The future of play is games with the look and feel of the high-quality products that gamers are accustomed to, but that also empower players with digital property rights.”
