Metallica is an Australian resources company with interests in bauxite, graphite, mineral sands and silica sands projects. It is focused on transitioning successfully from exploration into production, with the goal of producing 5-7Mtpa of bauxite over the coming 3-5 years.
Metallica’s current focus is its 50 per cent-owned Urquhart Bauxite Project which is a part of the Cape York Bauxite and Heavy Mineral Sands Joint Venture which is located on Queensland’s Cape York.
Demand for bauxite is increasing as China looks to shore up its supply, following recent crackdowns on illegal and environmentally damaging operations there. This is creating opportunities for emerging miners in more stable countries, such as Metallica.
