Copper will be the subject of greater interest in Pantera’s next round of exploration at the Yampi project in WA after it identified several new targets.

This follows a comprehensive review of its field reconnaissance, historical data and Geological Survey of Western Australia geophysical and mapping data in the project area including tenements under application.

Pantera Minerals (ASX:PFE) noted that the review had identified strike extensions of highly prospective regional faults, which are likely strike extensions of Dreadnought Resources’ (ASX:DRE) Orion discovery, into its tenements.

Recent drilling at Orion, which is less than 5km to the south, had returned a notable hit of 16m grading 2.2% copper, 38.7 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, 6.6g/t gold and 0.4% cobalt.

It also indicated that regional copper-silver-gold-cobalt and copper-nickel discoveries are predominantly geophysical and structural targets with limited surface expression.

Adding further interest, the review also uncovered a potential iron oxide copper gold (IOCG) target hosted within a regional northeast-southwest striking fault with a highly magnetic, tabular intrusive body sitting within the Hart Dolerite modelled within E 04/2660.

Geophysical modelling of this target suggests that the body is 200m to 300m thick at a depth of about 300m.

2022 field season

In the new year, it plans to carry out soil and stream sampling to determine if there is any mobile metal geochemistry associated with geophysical targets.

The company will also drill the copper targets and apply for a Western Australia Exploration Incentive Scheme for a proposed 600m diamond hole.

That’s not to say that Pantera has forgotten about the hematite iron potential of its project with the company planning to carry out rock chip sampling and mapping of newly identified areas.

This will be focused in areas where the contact between the Pentecost Sandstone and Elgee Siltstone is evident.

The company will also develop and permit any potential drill targets.
