Si6 Metals has appointed a former Botswana Mines Department senior official as its strategic advisor to drive project negotiations and government liaisons in the country.

Modisana Botsile previously spent a significant amount of time working with the Botswana Government in the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water Resources and has extensive experience in mineral exploration and development in Botswana and Southern Africa.

Importantly, he brings a wealth of in-country knowledge, experience and connections to the company with executive chairman Patrick Holywell noting that this includes “strong networks within all levels of government”.

This is likely to also include knowledge about surrounding projects and how that information could assist Si6 Metals (ASX:Si6) in strategic developments, government liaisons and negotiations in relation to the Maibele Base Metals project.

“The appointment of Modisana comes at a critical time for Si6 as we continue with our exploration program on the ground in Botswana,” Holywell added.

“We welcome Modisana to the team and know that his previous experience in both working with the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water Resources and within the mineral exploration sector will prove invaluable.”

Maibele Project

Si6 recently extended the deep nickel sulphide hosting horizon at the Maibele project for at least 50m to the northwest, taking the total strike of the nickel sulphide body up to 1.4km.

This has positive implications for future resource upgrades given that the current resource of 2.38Mt at 0.72 per cent nickel, 0.21 per cent copper and 0.63 grams per tonne 4PGE+gold is based on just 800m of strike whilst being open at depth and along strike.

Maibele North nickel sulphide mineralisation is related to ultramafic intrusions within mobile belt rocks and is broadly similar in style to other ultramafic intrusion-related mobile belt nickel discoveries such as IGO’s Nova-Bollinger (ASX:IGO), Chalice Mining’s Julimar (ASX:CHN) and the globally significant Thompson Belt in Canada.
