Far East’s has further proof of why major gold miners had previously sought to explore its Woyla project with drilling extending mineralisation at the Agam Zone.

Initial Phase 2 drilling at the Agam Zone within the Rek Rinti prospect confirmed the lateral extension of the wide, massive quartz zone that was intersected in the Phase 1 drillhole RRD004, which returned a peak assay of 0.5m grading 78 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 631g/t silver from 108.6m within a broader 30m intercept at 3.43g/t gold equivalent.

Far East Gold (ASX:FEG) is now awaiting assays from the completed holes in the Phase 2 resource definition drilling, which included hole AGM004 that was drilled along strike to the south of RRD004 and intersected about 30m of similar massive quartz and quartz breccia.

Drill core observations also confirm the occurrence of crustiform and colloform banded quartz with ginguro within the massive quartz while initial handheld portable XRF readings indicate the presence of gold and silver bearing minerals as part of the finely disseminated black sulphides present within the ginguro bands.

It goes without saying that the company is hugely encouraged by the continuity of the massive quartz zone along strike and is now preparing to continue the Phase 2 drill program which includes an approximately 11 hole 5,000m resource delineation program at the Agam Zone in Rek Rinti and a further 5,000m of diamond drilling in their scout drilling program across the Anak Perak, Rek Rinti and Aloe Eumpeuk prospect areas.

Agam Zone

The wide quartz intersection in RRD004 was interpreted to represent a zone of dilation or flexure within the Agam Zone in response to fault activity during vein development.

It is constrained by brittle faults showing evidence of repeated deformation and locally intense clay ± pyrite alteration.

Assays received from the Phase 1 drilling indicated that gold-silver mineralisation at the Rek Rinti prospect is best developed within the massive quartz and quartz breccia, a characteristic similar to many high-grade epithermal vein and breccia systems including Gosowong.

Phase 2 resource delineation drilling within the Agam Zone will continue using two diamond drill rigs.
