Nissan has teamed up with British adventurer, Chris Ramsey on an epic all-electric driving expedition from the North Pole to South Pole.

The Pole to Pole expedition departed in late March and will see Ramsey and team in a Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE travel over 27,000 kilometres across several regions and continents with predicted temperatures ranging from -30⁰C to 30⁰C.

Ramsey will be the first person to drive from pole to pole in a vehicle of any type as he makes his way from the Arctic through North, Central and South America, before crossing to Antarctica.

“Our mission is to show that electric vehicles can tackle the harshest of environments – from the bitter cold of the poles to the hot and humid jungles of South America, and illustrate that they are exhilarating to drive whilst meeting the daily demands of drivers around the world,” Ramsey said

It does look pretty epic:

Extreme terrain EV

In preparation for the freezing Arctic and Antarctic conditions, Ramsey’s expedition Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE will be modified with a custom rugged exterior fit for the trek across extreme terrain with upgraded wheels, tires and suspension.

“With e-4ORCE control technology providing enhanced stability and traction on a variety of surfaces, we know it will be the perfect partner for Chris and his team on their challenging all-electric journey,” Nissan executive VP global head of marketing and sales Asako Hoshino said.

A second, unmodified Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE will act as a support vehicle throughout the Americas.

Who’s got news out today?

TREK METALS (ASX:TKM)

Trek says recent field exploration has confirmed the potential for hard rock lithium at its Tambourah project in WA, and plans follow-up work to define drill targets for the second half of 2022.

Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) formerly undertook a significant stream sediment sampling program that identified a large area with anomalous lithium, and other pathfinder elements such as caesium, rubidium and tantalum on what is now Trek’s tenure.

Rock chip samples by FMG include 1.06% Li2O, and Trek’s first reconnaissance trip confirmed the presence of multiple outcropping pegmatites in the area of stream sediment anomalism.

Samples collected have been submitted for analysis with assays currently pending.

ANSON RESOURCES (ASX:ASN)

Anson has collected brine for sampling from the Mississippian units at the Paradox Lithium Project Long Canyon #2 Well in Utah, USA.

However, the company notes that samples will be a combination of supersaturated brine and drilling mud, and due to this, the lithium value will be diluted.

The Mississippian units collected will also be sent off petrological analysis.

The Mississippian limestones and dolomites range in thickness from 70 to 250 metres in the project area, and the wells drilled into these rock units in the project area have all intersected brines.

Anson says these porous units are promising because of the probable large reservoir size.

MINREX RESOURCES (ASX:MRR)

MinRex says its fast tracking approvals for a detailed field program and maiden drilling programs over the Eastern Pilbara and Marble Bar Lithium-Tin-Tantalum Project areas, with the Department of Mines, Industry and Safety, Resource approving the company’s application to drill over the Coondina South Coondina, Shaw River, Tambourah North and Haystack Well Projects.

“We are pleased to have the stakeholders, cash, team, projects and now approvals in place to fast-track drilling over our key lithium assets in the eastern Pilbara battery metals hot spot,” MD George Karageorge said.

The company is cashed up with approximately $11.3M in the bank and an additional $6.8M to settle on 1 June from cornerstone investment group.

The aim is to complete 25,000m of drilling in the next 12 months.

GLOBAL LITHIUM RESOURCES (ASX:GL1)

Drilling has kicked off at the company’s Manna project in WA, with a 20,000m RC campaign underway.

A diamond drilling rig will join the program in June 22, targeting the LCT pegmatites at depth.

The results are expected to be incorporated into updated Manna Mineral Resource in Q4 2022.

ESSENTIAL METALS (ASX:ESS)

The company says the 9,000m resource extension drilling program at the Pioneer Dome project commenced in mid-May with four RC pre-collars completed to date and the diamond rig expected on site in June.

Assays from the exploration and metallurgical diamond drill program in the March Quarter are now expected by mid-June (previously end- May).

The company says these two key work programs will underpin an update and likely expansion of the lithium Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) for Pioneer Dome and the commencement of a Scoping Study in the December Quarter.

“The MRE extension drill programme, together with assays from the drilling completed earlier this year and the upcoming metallurgical test work programmes, have the potential to rapidly transform Essential from lithium explorer to developer,” MD Tim Spencer said.

ASKARI METALS (ASX:AS2)

The company says results from the Phase II detailed rock sampling campaign at the NW area of the Barrow Creek project in the NT has validated its interpreted strike extension of fertile pegmatite zones to 3kms.

The results also indicate the pegmatites likely extend undercover – presenting Askari with targets for further exploration.

“We look forward to completing the design of our follow-up exploration campaign, including an inaugural RC drilling campaign combined with shallow RAB and air-core drilling of potential pegmatites beneath shallow cover.

DALAROO (ASX:DAL)

Dalaroo has outlined multiple lithium anomalies – with values of up to 125ppm Li and strike lengths of up to 1.5km – at its Lyons River project in the Gascoyne.

The anomalies are supported by elevated levels of pathfinder and indicator elements including rubidium, beryllium, caesium, tantalum and tin and notably are about 50kms from the Malinda lithium project previously explored by Segue Resources – renamed Arrow Minerals (ASX:AMD).

“Further assessment of our lithium anomalies in conjunction with other data sets and in-field investigation by a lithium expert geologist commencing in June will determine their significance and the ability to host lithium rich pegmatites,” MD Harjinder Kehal said.

METALS AUSTRALIA (ASX:MLS)

Multiple lithium intersections were discovered from reverse circulation drilling of the lithium-bearing pegmatites at the Manindi Project in WA.

Intersections include: 11m @ 1.23% Li2O, 0.31% Rb from 16m (down hole) in MNRC045, and 11m @ 1.11% Li2O, 0.42% Rb from 11m (down hole) in MNRC044.

A new diamond drilling program being finalised to test depth extensions of the key pegmatites and to obtain samples for metallurgical (Li, Rb, Ta) concentration testwork to inform a maiden JORC 2012 Mineral Resource estimate and development studies.

RED DIRT METALS (ASX:RDT)

The company’s latest batch of assays from its Mt Ida lithium and gold project has returned 31.9m at 1.01% Li2O.

The Timoni Pegmatite is also reporting very high-grade results over good widths, including 5.2m at 2.42% Li2O from 275.6m downhole with high contents of visible coarse spodumene crystals in the submitted core.

“We’ve seen a steady increase in drill metre production rates with another two machines now onsite and we are on target for the completion of our resource definition drill out by the end of June 2022,” MD Matthew Boyes said.

“I see the calculation of this resource estimate as our next major de-risking hurdle in the development of the Mt Ida Lithium project.”
