Apollo Minerals strikes up to 4.7% zinc-lead at West African flagship project

These latest shallow, high-grade zinc-lead hits demonstrate the potential of the broader Dikaki prospect to host significant mineralisation close to surface.

The TP11 Dikaki prospect is within the wider, province-scale Kroussou Project in Gabon, West Africa where results have been received from 13 diamond holes for 732m.

Apollo (ASX:AON) says high-grade mineralisation continues to be zinc dominant with zinc comprising >85% of the total zinc-lead content in the latest results.

Highlights from the drilling include 10.3m at 4% zinc-lead from 25.4m, within a broader zone of 15.3m at 3% zinc-lead, 8.3m at 3.8% zinc-lead and 9.1m at 4.7% zinc-lead from 47.6m within a broader zone of 23.2m at 3% zinc-lead.

AON managing director Neil Inwood says the potential for Dikaki style mineralisation to be confirmed at 17 other identified mineral channels at Kroussou is extremely exciting.

“The airborne electromagnetic survey flight-work over the entire Project is now complete and the data acquired is currently being processed and interpreted.

“Strong news flow is expected over the coming months as results from ongoing Kroussou drilling, field exploration and metallurgical test work programs are received,” he says.

What’s next?

The 2022 planned work program is ongoing at Kroussou and is currently focused on regional drilling at TP9 and TP13 where two diamond drill rigs are active on site.

AON says further field exploration will be carried out to identify new zones of mineralisation at other defined prospects and regional targets through mapping, rock sampling and soil geochemistry.

The passive seismic program which covered TP13, TP9, TP8 and TP4 has been completed, with the data currently being analysed.
