Rise and Shine: What you need to know before the ASX opens

On Stockhead today, PLS doubles its spod auction record, Guy Le Page and Rick Rule agree on uranium, farmers are positive, and other miracles.

WHO’S LISTING?

Scheduled to list at 1pm AEST today is explorer Copper Search (ASX:CUS), which raised ~$12m to hunt for big copper-gold deposits in South Australia’s Gawler Craton.

CUS is led by a bunch of former Extract Resources crew, including Peter McIntyre (CEO), Rance Dorrington (CFO), and Martin Spivey.

Extract discovered the world-class ‘Husab’ uranium deposit in Namibia which was ultimately acquired via a takeover for ~$2 billion.

WHAT GOT YOU TALKING YESTERDAY?

On July 30, the inaugural Battery Material Exchange auction for spodumene from Pilbara Mineral’s (ASX:PLS) Pilgangoora operation settled at a record-high $US1,250/tonne for a 10,000/t cargo.

That’s well above prevailing market price, and streets ahead of the ~$US380/t spod producers were accepting last year.vIt set the broader market alight.

Pot stock Cronos Australia (ASX:CAU) rose after announcing it was merging with CDA Health – a private medical cannabis company based in Queensland.

Recently listed explorer Midas Minerals (ASX:MM1) announced a drilling campaign will get underway soon.

And Nex Metals (ASX:NME) rose after joint venture partner Metalicity (ASX:MCT) unveiled a proposal to combine the two companies.  Nex told its shareholders to take no action at this stage.
