ASX Small Cap Winners Jul 9-13

Jayex Healthcare (ASX:JHL) was the winner of the week, closing up 127 per cent at 6.8c after licensing its Bluepoint kiosks and remote dispensing terminals to unlisted Kiwi cannabis play Medicann NZ for a minimum of $500,000.

The shares spiked as high as 11c after the announcement.

MediCann is planning to sell medical cannabis products after New Zealand’s  expected deregulation of medical cannabis next year.

High-tech data and security play Wangle Technologies (ASX:WGL) gained 50 per cent for the week after Yojee backer and heavyweight stockmarket advisor Mat Walker joined as corporate director.

Mr Walker plans to triple his shareholding in the data and cyber-security play.

Wangle is known for two key projects: a mobile network acceleration app called Wangle VPN that ups data speed and encrypts user content for security, and a cyber safety app called Wangle Family Insites.

The stock finished the week at 0.3c up from 0.2c the week prior.

Infant formula exporter Jatenergy (ASX:JAT) lifted 42 per cent after signing up to market its Neurio brand milk powder and drink products on Chinese luxury site Xiaohongshu.

“This is the Neurio brand’s first large scale marketing campaign on a major Chinese ecommerce platform and will greatly enhance the brand’s market visibility as well as directly impacting sales,” executive director Wilton Yao said.

Jatenergy will also exhibit its Neurio, Golden Koala and Cobbitty Country brands at a Shanghai baby and maternity products expo.

The shares closed the week at 9.4c up from 6.6c seven days prior.

Benitec Biopharma (ASX:BLT) achieved the holy grail for biotechs — a licensing deal — for its oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy drug.

The potentially $US187.5 million deal sent its share price rocketing 130 per cent to an intraday high of 33.5c on Monday.

The stock close up 41 per cent for the week at 20.5c.

Drone engine maker Orbital (ASX:OEC) went flying this week after announcing a $1.8 million profit from $22 million revenue in preliminary full-year results.

Investors loved the news, pushing the shares up 30 per cent to 45.5c for the week. The stock, which is capped at $38 million, has traded between 33c and 68c in the past year.

Perth-based Orbital develops engines for tactical drone units and has offices in Australia and the US.

Junior lithium explorer Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) had a busy week revealing it had produced the first lithium carbonate from its flagship Utah project and secured land to build a pilot plant.

Anson shares have been on a tear this month, recovering all the ground the stock lost in March after initially disappointing lithium processing results at the Utah plant.

In the past three weeks the company has rocketed more than 340 per cent and closed the week at 15c — up 36 per cent.

ASX Small Cap Losers Jul 9-13

Software maker Integrated Research (ASX:IRI) plunged after issuing an after-market warning on Thursday that full-year revenue growth would be flat and profit growth lower.

The shares fell 30 per cent to an intraday low of $2.12 in early Friday trade, but climbed back to $2.46 by the close — down 21 per cent for the week.

Integrated Research told investors that after-tax profit growth would be 1 per cent to 5 per cent compared to the previous financial year.

That compared to growth of 16 per cent to $18.5 million last year.

“The result was primarily a function of the cyclical downswing in infrastructure and an underperforming European operation,” company secretary David Purdue told investors.
