The ASX is treading water in Wednesday trade, with no major catalyst after a mildly negative session in the US overnight.
Gains in the big banks helped drag the ASX200 higher, while the microcap Emerging Companies Index was ~0.8pc lower into midday trade.
But there was still the usual round of notable winners (and losers) among ASX small caps, with tech and resources leading the way.
Elsewhere, we assume your day is going better than the captain of the Ever Given cargo ship, which has gotten itself wedged perpendicular in the Suez Canal.
Traffic is starting to back up in the man-made waterway, otherwise known as the world’s busiest shipping lane connecting Europe to Asia.
As journalist Tracy Alloway pointed out, a closer inspection of today’s headline picture reveals a tiny excavator doing its best to dig the Evergreen out of its rut (good luck):

Did someone say Airtasker (ASX:ART)? The online platform that connects people who need jobs done with workers who can do them surged again in morning trade, after an auspicious debut yesterday.
After raising ~$83m in its IPO at 65c per share, ART closed on day one at $1.05 and promptly surged above $1.70 today — a premium of more than 160 per cent to its listing price.
Stockhead’s Nick Sundich caught up with Airtasker chief Tim Fung yesterday for a chat about the company’s outlook.
Ecommerce platform Rewardle (ASX:RXH) also ripped higher after releasing a company presentation this morning.
Shares in the company then went into a trading halt shortly after 11am EST, pending a further announcement.
