Buru Energy Limited is a leading oil and gas exploration and production company based in Perth, Western Australia with a regional office in Broome. It is a dominant holder of acreage in the onshore Canning Basin, and it also holds permits in the onshore Carnarvon Basin.

 The Company’s goal is to deliver material benefits to its shareholders, the State of Western Australia, the Traditional Owners and communities of the areas in which it operates, by successfully exploring for and developing petroleum resources and by contributing to driving the energy transition in an environmentally and culturally sensitive manner.

 The company operates a Canning Basin wide portfolio of exploration permits and licences prospective for conventional and unconventional resources with working interests ranging from 40% to 100%. The company recently made a significant conventional gas and condensate discovery at Rafael 1 in the Canning Basin that has the potential to be one of Australia’s biggest onshore gas discoveries.  Its onshore Carnarvon Basin holdings are prospective for conventional oil and gas and have significant potential for carbon capture and storage activity.

 Buru also has a 50% operating interest in the producing conventional Ungani Oilfield, and exports crude oil to the Southeast Asian markets.

 In addition to its core oil and gas activity, Buru also has a number of new energy businesses in natural hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS) and battery minerals through its subsidiaries 2H Resources, Geovault and Battmin respectively.

  • Eric Streitberg | Executive Chairman

    Eric has over 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has been the founder of numerous ASX listed energy companies including ARC Energy Limited and Discovery Petroleum which were key participants in the renaissance of the Perth Basin.

    He was a past Director and Chair of APPEA and he also chaired the APPEA Exploration and Environment Committees.

    He is a Certified Petroleum Geologist and Geophysicist and holds a BSc in Applied Geophysics.

Kris has an excellent understanding of the requirement and drivers of the transition to new, low carbon forms of energy.
