MinRex Resources has completed its maiden RC drilling campaign at the Wiles Gold Prospect, part of the Sofala project in the Lachlan Fold Belt of NSW.
A total of 794m of drilling was completed across 14 holes with gold assays pending.
Notably, soil sampling at the prospect in 2018 returned strong gold results, including 10.6 g/t and 9.26 g/t, and shallow RC drilling in late 2020 returned 9m at 2.43 g/t gold from 17m and 2m at 2.97 g/t gold from 6m.
MinRex (ASX:MRR) is now working on resource definition, geophysics interpretation and target generation, with an aggressive exploration campaign planned over the next 6 months.
“We are pleased to have completed Minrex’s first maiden drilling campaign at the Wiles gold prospect,” MinRex chief executive officer Pedro Kastellorizos said.
“We have intersected in all the drill holes quartz veining and sulphide mineralisation (mainly pyrite) associated with moderate sericite alteration which are all the hallmarks of gold mineralisation within the Lachlan Fold Belt.
