Strong parallels have been made between the conditions we are in today and those experienced in the 1970s, mainly due to war, embargoes, and the acceleration of an inflationary cycle.

But the big question is, how are ASX small cap explorers placed to weather the storm?

As it turns out, experts say miners sit in a very strong position to perform through a weak equity market.

Miners make commodities, or hard assets, and when inflation starts to bite, investors look to hard assets to put their money in.

Sectors such as biotech are expected to provide some of the best bargains and exposure to energy stocks translates into protection against inflation.

Speaking with a handful of emerging companies making waves in the sector — along with industry experts — Stockhead looks into the current market conditions and the outlook for the duration and intensity of this bear market.
