Guy on Rocks: Good as gold in Guyana

Guy on Rocks’ is a Stockhead series looking at the significant happenings of the resources market each week. Former geologist and experienced stockbroker Guy Le Page, director, and responsible executive at Perth-based financial services provider RM Corporate Finance, shares his high conviction views on the market and his “hot stocks to watch”.

Released in 2007, Ubisoft’s action-adventure video game Assassin’s Creed spawned a multi-title franchise worth in excess of $4 billion, including an adaptation to the silver screen with a 2016 feature film of the same name (wow, Brendan Gleeson!).

The game was lauded for its fresh take on the genre with elements of parkour (which was really having a moment in the mid 2000’s for some reason), as well as its story incorporating real world history and modern day conspiracy. Players assumed control of protagonist Desmond Miles and – through his genetic memories (is this even real science?) – his ancestor Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad.

Which brings us to this week’s stock of the week: Altair Minerals (ASX:ALR). With deranged writing like this, you can be certain we don’t use ChaptGPT at Stockhead.

In early August, Altair acquired a 70% interest in the Greater Oko gold project in Guyana, encompassing nearly 600sq km, with the potential to increase to a whopping 3,500sq km.

Altair is enjoying a nearology aspect at Greater Oko, as it sits on the same strike as the Oko Shear Zone – home to recent discoveries by G2 Goldfields and GMIN (5.9Moz at 2.20g/t gold).

Tune in to hear more about Altair Minerals, the ASX listed gold explorer – not Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad, protagonist of 2007 action-adventure video game Assassin’s Creed.
