- Australian ambassador Kevin Rudd requests Resolution brief on Horse Heaven antimony project before Trump meeting
- Horse Heaven project sits next to Perpetua’s $80m Department of Defense-funded Stibnite gold mine in Idaho
- 59km2 project prospective for antimony and tungsten critical to US military supply chains
Special Report: Resolution Minerals is poised to boost the visibility of its Horse Heaven antimony project in Idaho after Australian ambassador to the US Kevin Rudd requested the company hold a briefing.
The briefing, which will be held before the upcoming meeting between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and US President Donald Trump in Washington DC on October 20, 2025, will provide an update on the project, its scale and prospective expansion plans.
This is aimed at strengthening Australia’s strategic position with the US on critical mineral relations.
Horse Heaven covers about 59km2 of exploration ground immediately adjacent to Perpetua Resources’ Stibnite gold project, which has received $80m in Department of Defense funding and recently secured development approval under the FAST-41 approvals fast-track program.
The unsolicited selection of Resolution Minerals’ (ASX:RML) project reinforces its relevance to America’s critical minerals supply chain.
Antimony and tungsten are both part of the 2025 Draft List of Critical Minerals created by the US Department of the Interior as they play key roles in modern military and advanced technological infrastructure.
The US government is advancing critical minerals projects through expedited permitting, dedicated grant programs, and equity participation to reduce its dependency on foreign sources.
These measures aim to speed project development, safeguard supply chains and reinforce the global position of the US and its partners like Australia in the critical minerals sector.
Horse Heaven in brief
Horse Heaven is home to a number of historical antimony, tungsten and gold mines.
It has several high-priority target areas, including the Golden Gate and Antimony Ridge prospects. Shallow historical drilling has confirmed mineralisation from surface.
Notably, Horse Heaven shares its eastern boundary with the Stibnite project that is set to become one of the largest high-grade, low-cost gold mines in the US due to its high-grade and low-strip ratio.
Stibnite has a measured and indicated resource of 6Moz gold with antimony and tungsten byproducts, which will make it the only domestic source of antimony.
Drilling is currently underway at Horse Heaven with the results to be released once available.
Work is also underway on other programs such as stream sediment, mapping and rock chip sampling.
