Orange Minerals ready to drill deep at WA polymetallic play

  • OMX gearing up to diamond drill at Lennon’s Find polymetallic project
  • Follows rock chip samples of up to 2948g/t silver
  • Program partially funded by WA Government Exploration Incentive Scheme

Special Report: Orange Minerals is gearing up to drill a deep copper-gold induced polarisation (IP) anomaly at its polymetallic Lennon’s Find project in WA.

The move follows recent high-grade rock chip results of up to 2948g/t silver, 5.5g/t gold, 5.29% copper, 5.7% zinc and 22.4% lead, confirming the project’s prospectivity.

Notable sample results included:

  • 2948g/t Ag, 3.55g/t Au and 17.4% Pb;
  • 746g/t Ag and 3.4% Cu;
  • 5.5g/t Au and 22.4% Pb; and
  • 583g/t Ag, 5.29% Cu and 5.7% Zn.

The upcoming 650-metre diamond hole will be the first to test a pronounced IP anomaly beneath the existing resource of 1.55 Mt at 5.9% Zn, 0.2% Cu, 1.6% Pb, 0.28 g/t Au and 84g/t Ag.

Orange Minerals (ASX:OMX) interprets the anomaly to represent the feeder zone to the known zinc-lead-silver mineralisation.

First deep drill testing ever

Drilling to date has been shallow and focused on the oxide potential of the known deposits which sit evenly along the length of the project’s 4.5km mineralised corridor – Grey Nurse, Tiger, Hammerhead, Mako and Bronze Whaler.

The upcoming hole will be the first deep drill testing at the project and will be partially funded by the WA Government Exploration Incentive Scheme.

“The rock chip sampling has continued to confirm the strength of the mineralised corridor and refined our understanding of the system’s geometry,” MD Chris Michael said.

“The upcoming 650-metre diamond hole will directly test the centre of the IP anomaly, which we interpret as the potential feeder zone of a larger VMS system beneath the surface.”

Terra Drilling has been contracted to drill the diamond hole in early November.
