• Raiden confirms visual spodumene – a lithium mineral – from outcropping pegmatites at Arrow project in Pilbara of WA
  • Project is directly north of Morella’s pegmatite discovery
  • Company now conducting XRD and soil analysis

Raiden Resources’ ongoing fieldwork at the Arrow lithium project in WA has confirmed visual spodumene mineralisation in outcropping pegmatites – which are the host rock for lithium mineralisation.

The company is earning up to 85% of the project’s Lithium-Caesium-Tantalum (LCT) rights, with option to purchase 100% of those rights.

Arrow is in a proven lithium pegmatite district, with recent mapping and sampling work focusing on priority areas directly to the north of Morella Corporation’s (ASX:1MC) pegmatite discovery.

Raiden Resources (ASX:RDN) has now visually identified spodumene crystals within several rock samples collected from outcropping pegmatites located in the western area of Arrow North (E47/3476).

Visual spodumene mineralisation just the start

Notably, historic exploration at Arrow – which was originally a gold project — had identified fertile and fractionated granitic intrusions, which may produce mineralised LCT bearing pegmatites.

Now with visual confirmation complete, the next step is X-Ray diffraction analysis (XRD) which will give the company a more accurate understanding of the mineralogical composition of the samples.

“The definition of pegmatite outcrops in another emerging district in the Pilbara is adding to the overall lithium potential within our exploration portfolio,” RDN MD Dusko Ljubojevic said.

“The visual determination of spodumene mineralisation is very encouraging, however XRD analysis is required to confirm the exact nature of the mineralisation.”

So far XRD analysis has defined Spodumene as the dominant Li2O mineral at the company’s Andover South project which recently returned up to 2.73% lithium grades.

Soil analysis underway

The company has submitted all the soil sample pulps – which were collected during the maiden sampling program on the Arrow project which was evaluating the gold potential of the project – for re-analysis for the LCT suite of minerals.

RDN believes that the pegmatites may be obscured by a sediment cover and the soil sampling results will hopefully define target areas with elevated LCT geochemical responses for further follow up.

“We are also hopeful that the soil analysis for LCT suite of minerals will define further trends to be followed up on an ongoing basis to fully realise the potential of the project,” Ljubojevic said.
