The appointment of highly experienced company builder Ramón Jiménez Serrano as CEO of Extremadura New Energies is a big win for parent company Infinity Lithium Corporation.

Ramón Jiménez Serrano will take the helm at Infinity Lithium’s (ASX:INF) wholly owned Spanish subsidiary, Extremadura New Energies, where he will be tasked with navigating the strategic expansion of Extremadura’s flagship San Jose lithium project in Spain.

He brings 17 years of prior experience as CEO / Managing Director of Spanish companies, including Tedagua and Cobra (ACS Group).

In those roles, he oversaw the permitting and construction of numerous water and energy infrastructure projects under EPC and O&M contracts, both in Spain and internationally.

Serrano also oversaw 7 years of significant growth as CEO of the world’s leading development infrastructure and construction company, Acciona Industrial.

His achievements at Acciona include growing the company into new business lines such as waste to energy, biomass, biofuels, photovoltaic and hydrogen projects globally.

As CEO of Acciona Service where he served in parallel for 5 years, Serrano also led 18,000 employees globally in facility management, energy services, waste and environmental management.

“It is an honor to be part of Extremadura New Energies and a technologically pioneering project like the one in San José, a one-of-a-kind project,” Serrano commented on his appointment.

“This project will be a fundamental pillar of the future energy scenario, allowing the creation of a model of sustainable development that cares for the environment.

“It will also help create a better world for future generations, while providing economic and social development of Cáceres and Extremadura, putting them at the forefront of this global transformation,” he added.

Collaborating with the local communities to build a major lithium operation

Extremadura recently nabbed a membership with the Círculo Empresarial Cacereño (CEC) – a well-known business group which represents 3,500 businesses in the Cáceres province – which is where the company’s San José project is based.

The company says the collaboration will promote economic development and business initiatives within the lithium-ion battery chain in Cáceres – and ensure that maximum benefits from the project are realised by the town.

Members of the Board of Infinity had recently spent several weeks in Spain engaging with local stakeholders, including major business associations.

They were also there to finalise the extensive executive search process leading to the appointment of Serrano as CEO.

Infinity CEO, Ryan Parkin, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ramón to Extremadura New Energies, and it’s clear we will benefit greatly from his vast global experiences in leading and advancing projects across multiple industries.”

“With an impressive track record in bringing major projects to fruition, we are excited to have a proven leader shape these next steps in the progression of San José, and the alignment of this major European lithium industrial project to the local community of Caceres.”
