GTI Energy is firming up the emergence of a significant uranium domain at its Great Divide Basin project in Wyoming, with successful drilling taking its projected roll front trends to 7.5 miles.

That’s 12km in metric parlance, of “roll front trends” – a term describing the style of deposits commonly found & extracted by in-situ recovery mining (ISR) in Wyoming and elsewhere on the planet. A roll front is an area where groundwater, containing low levels of uranium minerals, slowly flows through an aquifer over time and meets a reducing zone where a front of uranium mineral is deposited.

This latest 33-hole campaign across the Loki, Teebo and Odin targets was part of a larger 103 mud rotary hole program across GTI’s Great Divide Basin properties including the Thor project during the 2022 field season. These 33 holes have returned some of the best results to date, with uranium mineralisation in around 90% (or 29) of the holes.

They include GTI Energy’s (ASX:GTR) best of the 33 holes which delivered a grade thickness of 0.78, almost four times the 0.2 GT cut-off.

All in all almost 5km, or 2.65 miles of new projected roll front trends were discovered at Odin, Teebo and Loki, adding to the 4.85 miles discovered at the flagship Thor trend.

The discovery of large, thick and high grade roll front trends at the 14,000 hectare GDB is significant given its proximity to UR-Energy’s Lost Creek ISR Facility and Lost Soldier deposit and UEC’s Antelope and Jab deposits.

Rounding up the action, drilling at Odin, where 18 holes were sunk, Teebo (10 holes) and Loki (5), adjacent to Uranium Energy Corp’s Antelope project and north in Loki’s case of URE’s Lost Creek, all encountered mineralisation.

At Teebo and Loki 14 of 15 holes struck uranium, with 6 holes meeting or exceeding the cutoff for both grade and thickness at an average of 0.45GT, 2.25x the target cut-off.

‘Excellent strike rate’

“The strike rate for this round of exploration drilling at Odin, Teebo and Loki has been excellent with uranium mineralisation present in about 90% of holes to date,” GTI executive director Bruce Lane said.

“Results at Loki have identified new roll front uranium mineralisation at viable ISR depths. It’s exciting to see strong results at Loki in such close proximity to UR Energy’s Lost Creek.

“Drilling this year in the Great Divide has increased our total roll front trend length to 7.5 miles & represents significant progress towards our goal of delivering a maiden resource statement in 2023.”

What’s next?

That maiden resource will come after GTI added 4.16 miles of roll front trends in drilling this year.

It plans to evaluate options to conduct further drilling under its already permitted program in early 2023, subject to weather conditions.
