Leading the biggish-gun lithium news today, Patriot Battery Metals (ASX:PMT) has announced the largest lithium drill campaign in Quebec – Canada’s hottest “white gold” province – is now underway.
The 2024 drill campaign at the $420m company’s Corvette property is targeting a minimum of 45,000m over the January to April period – the winter program.
At least 10 drill rigs are lined up for spinning for the four months, which defines it as a large-scale undertaking.
How’s this work in the depths of a finger-freezing, organ-shrivelling Canadian winter? PMT reports the winter access road is fully operable at this stage, reducing the dependency on choppers, so the expectation is the per-metre cost shouldn’t be overly high.
Core assay results remain to be reported for more than 125 drill holes, including ~1.5 km of prospective pegmatite trend across the CV5 and CV13 pegmatites.
An updated mineral resource estimate won’t be coming from PMT until later in the year, third quarter.
Situated in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Quebec, PMT’s Corvette Property is Patriot Battery Metals flagship project.
Its CV5 Spodumene Pegmatite, has an impressive MRE – 109.2 Mt at 1.42% Li2O and 160 ppm Ta2O5 (tantalum pentoxide) inferred.
FIN has identified multiple pegmatite trends across new claims at its Cancet West project in James Bay, Canada. Trends appear associated with Lac Guyer greenstone belt, which hosts the Cancet and Corvette deposits.
Also, the company notes that approvals for its initial highly anticipated drilling of its White Bear site are expected soon.

Torque Metals Limited has completed its 100% acquisition of an extensive package of tenements that make up what it’s dubbed the Penzance Exploration Camp.
The company hasn’t wasted a single second (well, maybe one or two), immediately putting an RC drill campaign in place at the New Dawn lithium project – “to extend the scale of spodumene lithium bodies”.
New Dawm is strategically located just 600m west of the active Bald Hill lithium mine in WA, which belongs to Aussie mining giant Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN).

The last four of holes from TG Metals’ 2023 drilling campaign at the highly prospective Burmeister lithium deposit at Lake Johnston have uncovered a new best intersection of 17.1m @ 1.66% Li2O.
And now the company has just kicked off a new 6,000m RC drill campaign at the location.
As Stockhead has previously reported, when TG Metals unearthed a core sample of up to 2.28% Li2O from the first hole at Burmeister, it sparked a pegging rush.
The emerging Lake Johnston lithium province, in WA’s Goldfields-Esperence region, now has an impressive list of explorers proving up the region’s potential.
These include: Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) , which has engaged in a farm-in to Charger Metals’ (ASX:CHR) own Lake Johnston project, as well Mt Malcolm Mines (ASX:M2M) and Kingsland Minerals (ASX:KNG).
