Special Report: Drilling has now doubled the depth extent of the high-grade Diabatou Gold Shoot, which shows early stage similarities to West African Resources’ company making M1 South discovery.

Golden Rim Resources (ASX:GMR) believes a recent discovery called the Diabatou Gold Shoot  — part of the 1.4moz and growing Kouri project in Burkina Faso – is very significant.

Elsewhere in Burkina Faso, these shoots can extend vertically for more than 1km and host more than 1 million ounces of gold.

TSX-listed Roxgold, for example, outlined a 1moz resource grading 13.9g/t at the Yaramoko gold mine.

Freshly minted producer West Africa Resources (ASX:WAF) has similarly delineated a 1moz resource grading 14.1g/t gold at its company making M1 South Shoot.

The current dimensions of the Diabatou Gold Shoot are similar to those of the upper portion of M1 South, about 100km southwest of Kouri:

12 new drill holes has now more than doubled the depth extent of Golden Rim’s Gold Shoot, from 70m to 160m.

Highlight intercepts included 3m at 10.2g/t from 191m, and 1m at 28.1g/t from 41m.

Importantly, it remains ‘open’ at depth:

The drilling program has now been suspended due to the rainy season, which is expected to last about 2 months.

Drilling will kick off again in early October 2020 with initial deeper diamond drilling planned for the Diabatou Gold Shoot.

Golden Rim managing director Craig Mackay says this is an exciting target – but it’s not the only one.

“Given the company’s success in discovering granite contact related high-grade gold in the Diabatou Gold Shoot, the next drilling campaign will also test a number of additional granite contact target areas at Kouri that have only recently been identified,” he says.

Kouri resource upgrade due September

Golden Rim’s existing 1.4 million ounce mineral resource was released to the ASX back in December 2018.

“Since that time Golden Rim has completed 27km of drilling in 211 holes and has outlined additional gold mineralisation along strike from the Mineral Resource and at the Red Hill, Maré and Diabatou prospects which will be incorporated in the update,” MacKay says.

The resource update will kick off within the next week and is expected to be completed during September 2020.
