Anson Resources has uncovered gallium, barium, germanium and indium in historical rock chip and soil samples
The historical results were identified through the review of WAMEX reports
Extensions of the critical mineral zones have been identified for drilling programs
Special Report: Additional high-grade critical minerals such as gallium, germanium, barium and indium have been discovered at Anson Resources’ Ajana project in WA.
Those drilling programs targeted highly prospective lead-zinc-copper-silver mineralised areas at the Surprise and Ethel Maude prospects and found up to 67 g/t gallium, 44.1 g/t indium, 40 g/t germanium and 1.2% barium.
Further exploration at the Mary Springs prospects later found 36ppm gallium in Mary Springs’ resource, as well as high grades of barium.
Gallium, a soft metallic element used in semiconductors, blue ray technology light emitting diode (LEDs), mobile phones and nuclear engineering was thrust into the spotlight last year when China decided to restrict exports of both germanium and gallium – two markets where China’s share of global production capacity is an eye-watering 68% and 90% according to stats from the US Geological Survey.
The WA Government is now hoping to establish an internationally competitive critical mineral industry, including both upstream production and downstream processing.
Historical results correlate with recent drilling
A review of historical results generated by Eagle Minerals in 2010 has uncovered more extensive high-grade mineralisation of gallium and barium in association with zinc-lead-copper-silver in regolith and rock chip sampling programs.
ASN says the results correlate with recent drilling at the Ethel Maude prospect in May which returned up to 67 g/t gallium, 44.1 g/t indium, 40 g/t germanium and 1.2% barium, and have added substantial value to Ajana’s zinc-lead-silver resource.
“The interpreted VTEM targets correlate with identified mineralized zones which strike parallel with the dolerite dykes and were initially identified as sulphide mineralized zones, but more recently critical minerals have been found to be associated with these high-grade mineralized zones,” ASN says.
Upcoming drilling planned
These anomalies are being used as a basis for follow-up drilling programs, which will be conducted for further analysis of the critical minerals that are present at Ajana.
ASN says drilling programs have been planned to extend these mineralised zones.
