ASX SMALL CAP WINNERS:

Northern Cobalt (ASX:N27) +118%

Leading the pack of small cap gainers this week is Northern Cobalt, which signed a binding agreement to acquire up to 80 per cent in an Alaskan gold project.

The Goodpaster project surrounds Northern Star Resources’ (ASX:NST) Pogo Mine that has produced a total of 4 million ounces of gold at a grade of 13.6 grams per tonne over the past 13 years.

 

Field Solutions Holdings (ASX:FSG) +42%

Field Solution Holdings  was awarded a third “Building our Regions” grant from the Paroo Shire in Queensland.

Under the $1m grant, FSG has secured a 10-year exclusive contract to maintain and operate a non-NBN broadband network in the shire.

 

Armour Energy (ASX:AJQ) +40%

Securing a major partner is often seen as a positive event and that is certainly the case for Armour Energy, which will farm-out a 70 per cent interest in the South Nicholson Basin oil and gas exploration project in northern Australia to Santos.

Armour will receive an upfront payment of $15 million and will be free carried by Santos up to an exploration expenditure of $65 million for the committed work program over four years. AJQ could receive a further $15 million if certain conditions are satisfied.

Legacy Iron Ore (ASX:LCY) -40%

Investors were none too pleased after Legacy Iron Ore reported that none of its drill holes at the Mt Bevan project in WA’s northeastern Goldfields region had intersected any significant nickel-copper values.
