On Stockhead today, who won the ASX small caps race in October, Rick Rule on the silver bull-run, and who loses when the housing bubble pops?

But first … the day ahead.

The ASX is still open today despite it being Melbourne Cup Day – an official public holiday in Victoria and unofficial half day off in other states.

Set to list at 12pm AEST is virtual plant technology and engineering service provider RemSense Technologies (ASX:REM) followed at 1:30pm AEST by gold explorer Aurum Resources (ASX:AUE) – a spin-off of Aldoro Resources’ (ASX:ARN)Penny’s South, Unaly Hill South and Ryan’s Find projects.

Prime Media (ASX:PRT) rose off the back of a $131.9 million takeover bid from Seven West Media (ASX:SWM).

A “heavily overbid” $13.6m cap rise will fast-track exploration at Global Lithium Resources’ (ASX:GL1) Marble Bar Lithium Project (MBLP) in 2022, the Pilbara based company says.

As part of the placement, Yibin Tianyi — the lithium chemical arm of world’s largest EV battery producer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. (CATL) – will invest $6.2 million for a 9.9% interest in GL1.

Small cap gas play Vintage Energy (ASX:VEN) rose thanks to an upgrade to its reserves for the Vali Field – more than triple its previous estimates.
