Tonight is set to be busy offshore, says CommSec.
The Bank of Canada will hold its monthly policy meeting, one day after Australia’s Reserve Bank decided to keep the cash rate on hold for a ninth straight meeting and maintain its intention to gradually taper its bond buying from later this month.
An update on US consumer borrowing, job openings and the Federal Reserve Beige Book are also due, which is an update of economic conditions across the US.

A number of junior gold stocks ran hot, but they were all outpaced by oil & gas junior Norwest Energy (ASX:NWE), which more than doubled as the beneficiary of a gas strike by large cap Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) in the Perth Basin — part of a JV project in which NWE has a 20% stake.

Making a run in afternoon trade was industrial supplies company Stealth Global (ASX:SGI), following the release of its FY21 results presentation where it flagged a 36% lift in annual revenues to $95m-$102m once its acquisition of Skipper Transport Parts was fully integrated.
