On Stockhead today, the metals more precious than gold inside your car, exploration spending in Australia is through the roof, and the hottest ETFs in Australia right now.

But first…

The day ahead

The All Ordinaries index teetered on the brink of 7,000 points at the close of Thursday trade after losing nearly 1 per cent.

There was a large sell-off in US stocks overnight, as the tech heavy Nasdaq index dropped 2.7 per cent to its lowest point since early January.

The Nasdaq market’s pullback means the index is only 1 per cent up since the start of the year, having nearly erased all of its gains since January.

The US 10-year Treasury bond was yielding 1.48 per cent Thursday having ticked slightly higher.

Stock pickers will be nervously watching the US markets’ Thursday trading session.
