The ASX Small Ords was up 15.5 points or 0.5 per cent to 2,837.4 at 1pm AEST.

GOING UP

Sheffield Resources (ASX:SFX) has been granted a mining lease for its “Thunderbird” mineral sands project in northern Western Australia, paving the way for construction to begin.

That news sent the stock to an all-time high for the mining junior, with the share price lifting 7 per cent to hit a new high of $1.28 before cooling to $1.21 just after 11am AEST.

Analyst Paul Hissey from Royal Bank of Canada gives Sheffield an ‘outperform’ rating and a share price target of $1.50.

“The receipt of the mining lease for Thunderbird is positive, and in our view, investors should consider permitting to now be a formality,” Mr Hissey said.

Shares in SciDev (ASX:SDV) rose 22 per cent to an intraday high of 1.1c after it got a purchase order for chemicals from $4.1 billion miner Iluka Resources (ASX:ILU).

The Australian mineral sands trial, which starts in the December quarter, will run with a commercial trial of a SciDev OptiFlox System. The trial aims to optimise water recovery, consumable usage and improve tailings deposition.

News of a presentation at a US healthcare conference was enough to send Immutep (ASX:IMM) shares up 9 per cent to an intraday high of 4.8c.

It continues a great week for the cancer biotech, which announced a deal with global big pharma giants Merck and Pfizer earlier in the week, which sent the shares flying.

Immutep chief Marc Voigt will speak at the Ladenburg Thalmann 2018 Healthcare Conference in early October.

Outstanding “sustained” production results sent Brookside Energy (ASX:BRK) up 19 per cent to 1.9c this morning.

The company said its two oil wells in Oklahoma have produced ~860,000BOE (~9% Oil) in the last 10 months and generated US$860,000 in net revenue for Brookside over the same period.

Shares in iSignthis (ASX:ISX) dropped 14 per cent to an intraday low of 15.5c before recovering slightly to 16.5c after warning investors its cash receipts will halve this quarter after its European clearing house was placed into administration.

iSignthis — which describes itself as a European-focused payments, eMoney and identity technology company — told investors clearing and settlement of its card networks via partner KAB (Kobenhavns Andelkasse Bank) was “no longer possible”.
