10 at 10: These ASX stocks have scurried to the top this morning

Stockhead’s Top 10 at 10, published at 10.15am each trading day, highlights the best (and worst) performing ASX small caps in morning trade using live data.

It’s a short, sharp update to help frame the trading day by showing the biggest movers in percentage terms.

The market opens at 10am (eastern time) and the data is taken at 10:15am, once every ASX stock has commenced trading.

Stocks highlighted in yellow have made market-moving announcements (click headings to sort).

Oil and gas stocks dominated the list today.

Oilex (ASX:OEX) led the winners after announcing that GSPC has approved the sale of its 55 per cent participating interest in the Cambay PSC in India to Oilex for US$2.2 million.

Fremont Petroleum (ASX:FPL) appointed a new chairman in 25 year industry veteran Simon Johnson.

Recent high fliers Brookside (ASX:BRK) and Red Sky Energy (ASX:ROG) climbed again off the back of no news.

Allegra Orthopaedics (ASX:AMT), which makes spinal cages, was the greatest non-oil winner. Today it told shareholders it had completed a necessary pilot study successfully and now would move to a larger trial with the intention of eventually getting FDA approved.

After rising from under 2 cents to over 7 cents in a matter of weeks, Alaska focused oil play 88 Energy (ASX:88E) was sent crashing back to earth after an operational update that showed a number of setbacks.

Sacgasco (ASX:SGC) and Xstate (ASX:XST) also fell after operational updates.
