RooLife Group has secured stocking and distribution for Remedy Drinks into Alibaba’s 300 high-tech Freshippo supermarkets and stores in China.

RooLife Group Ltd (ASX:RLG) has announced first new orders have been received and first products delivered to Freshippo, known as Hema in Mandarin.

Alibaba Group’s high-tech supermarket and fulfillment centre chain enables shoppers to complete their grocery shopping in person using their smartphones or place delivery orders online.

RLG said Freshippo has converged online and offline activities by using retail stores not just to sell to consumers, but also fulfill online orders, in addition to offering an immersive and fun experience to customers who shop in-store.

There are more than 300 Freshippo stores in 27 cities, primarily located in tier-one and tier-two cities in China.

Australian brand Remedy Drinks are makers of no-sugar, low calorie, live cultured, organic drinks including Kombucha.

Freshippo will sell Remedy Drinks online through its official app and also offline through its over 300 brick-and-mortar stores located in 27 cities across China.

With this addition, RLG said Remedy Drinks range of products will be available in over 500 physical points of sale around China.

Booming consumer demand post COVID-19

RLG is a cross-border platform that matches Chinese consumer demand with international brands and products.

The company identifies trends in consumer demand in China, secures distribution rights for international products that fit consumer needs and provides the tech and sales infrastructure for brands to sell at scale into China.

RLG recently reported a strong H1 FY23 result, positioning itself for booming consumer demand in China as the country re-opens after prolonged COVID-19 restrictions.

RLG’s managing director Bryan Carr said the company is incredibly proud to get Remedy Drinks into Alibaba’s Freshippo.

‘Helping our customer to achieve positioning and sales on one of the best channels in China is what we do,” he said.

“Nothing is more satisfying than seeing such a successful Australian brand as Remedy Drinks achieving prime positioning on shelves – both physically and online – with a sales channel of the calibre of Alibaba’s Freshippo stores.”

Carr said the achievement is a great example of the partnership established between Remedy Drinks, RLG and its on-the-ground distribution partner, Jebsen Group.

He said the highly successful combination, leverages the strengths of all parties to successfully launch and sell a quality brand into China.

“As we head into the summer months in China, we are well positioned to reach more health-conscious consumers for Remedy Drink’s kombucha with this exciting sales channel expansion,” he said.

Whilst initial orders received are significant for a new channel, they are not yet material to the annualised revenue of the company.

RLD said the Remedy deal is a further example of the uplift in demand the company is experiencing for health and wellbeing products following easing of COVID-19 restrictions in China.

The stocking and distribution of Remedy Drinks in Alibaba’s 300 high-tech Freshippo supermarkets and stores in China are expected to significantly contribute to increased revenue to be generated from the region.
