AVZ Minerals (ASX:AVZ) is the majority owner of the Manono Lithium and Tin Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which contains one of the largest and highest-grade undeveloped hardrock lithium resources in the world.
A scoping study completed on Manono in October 2018 confirmed its potential as a world-class, high-margin, long-life mining project capable of producing a high-quality lithium concentrate low in impurities.
From there, AVZ has commenced a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), through which it is investigating multiple options to improve on the project’s already compelling economics. The DFS will include the preferred route for transporting concentrate from site for export to China and other markets.
In operating in the DRC, AVZ continues to enjoy the support of local communities, employing hundreds of people and providing assistance to NGOs in the area.
