Botala Energy has reached a significant milestone in the development of its Serowe CBM project in Botswana after being awarded with environmental approval, a major regulatory 18-month process.
Stockhead’s Ashtyn Hiron sits down with Botala Energy (ASX:BTE) CEO Kris Martinick to get the short end of the long story on the company’s latest announcement.
The environmental approvals for the Serowe coal bed methane (CBM) project, otherwise known as Project Naledi, were granted on schedule and without public objections, meaning the company is one step closer to changing its prospecting licences to mining licences.
“It is quite pleasing to have this across the line,” Martinick says.
“We are now very much focused on receiving approvals for two downstream locations, one for a pilot project and the other being a larger export-type project.”
Tune in to hear Martinick discuss the approval process, what’s coming up in 2024 and more.
