Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunch Wednesday October 3.
The ASX Small Ords was up 17.3 points or 0.6 per cent to 2,859.2 at 12.45pm AEST.
GOING UP
Biotron (ASX:BIT) is continuing its stunning running, rising yet another 45 per cent today to an intraday high of 14.5c.
It’s now a seven-bagger at a 663 per cent rise in the space of just one week.
This is all off the back of news claiming the company had taken a major step towards curing HIV. There were significant share price rises yesterday and the day before that.
Shares in zinc and copper play Alara Resources (ASX:AUQ) rose 20 per cent to an intraday high of 3.1c after it announced it had won a court battle in Saudi Arabia.
A Saudi judge has dismissed a case against Alara Resources. brought by its former local joint venture partner over a “financial claim”.
The claim concerned Alara’s flagship project — a zinc and copper play in Saudi Arabia called “Khnaiguiyah”.
Invigor Group (ASX:IVO) is also continuing a good run of late, with news that it its extending Alipay in Hong Kong with Winning Group sending the shares up 33 per cent to 0.8c.
Invigor has been one of the better-performing small cap tech stocks over the past fortnight. Earlier it told investors its loyalty solution would be integrated into WeChat, the hugely popular Chinese social media and payments service.
Sunstone Metals (ASX:STM) is up 14 per cent to an intraday high of 3.3c after selling its Swedish copper project for $47 million.
Sunstone will become the largest shareholder in Copperstone with an approximate 30% shareholding, which will provide ongoing exposure to the upside at Viscaria as well as to Copperstone’s existing exploration projects in Sweden.

Freedom Insurance (ASX:FIG), savaged in the financial services royal commission for its direct telephone sales, has parted ways with its two most senior executives and announced big staff cuts.
The stock dropped 30 per cent to an intraday low of 9.2c this morning after the results of a strategic review were announced yesterday at 5.10pm AEST.
