Junior explorer Explaurum (ASX:EXU) took off this week after fellow gold explorer miner Ramelius Resources made an an all-scrip play valued at a 66 per cent premium.
The offer equates to 12.3c per share, valuing Explaurum at roughly $59.2 million.
Explaurum’s shares shot up 55 per cent to 11.5c by Friday.
Ramelius (ASX:RMS) shareholders weren’t as impressed, pushing its shares down more than 3 per cent to 45c.
Ramelius told investors it planned to make an off-market offer of one Ramelius share for every four Explaurum shares.
On the IPO front, Silicon battery maker 1414 Degrees (ASX:14D) had a quiet ASX debut this week after raising $16.3 million in an offer priced at 35c.
The stock slid on debut to 22.5c — but clawed back to 30c by Friday’s close after telling investors that “attending a recent conference in the United States has led to increased interest from global markets”.
Another recent ASX debutante, power window maker Clearvue (ASX:CPV), is faring better.
Clearvue hit an all-time high of 67c this week — a gain of more than 50 per cent — after releasing its annual report.
That’s more than triple its 20c issue price (see table below).
It’s a strong result considering the May IPO reached only $5 million of its $6 million full target to develop windows that can convert sunlight into electricity.
Clearvue lost $3.4 million this year on revenue of $504,000. leaving about $3.8 million in the kitty.
ClearVue is planning to launch “commercial-ready products” in Australia, the US and Europe by the end of the year.
Mining services play Resource Development Group (ASX:RDG) jumped 44 per cent to 2.6c after announcing it would invest in a gold project in the Laverton region of WA.
Resource Development will plonk down $15 million for a 30 per cent share of a 276,000‐ounce gold resource that sits on four mining leases over 36 sq km.
RDG will provide expertise for the design, construction and operation of the project if it goes ahead.
The Food Revolution Group (ASX:FOD) lost its original cornerstone investor this week but gained two institutions — and a 23 per cent share price bump.
The shares hit a one-year high of 12.5c before cooling to 10.5c at Friday’s close.
Venture capitalists The Victorian Clean Technology Fund sold down 40 million shares in the company for $2.2 million, going from 15 per cent of the register to 5.7 per cent.
Fund managers Perpetual and SG Hiscock picked up a “cornerstone stake”, although neither are substantial shareholders.
The entrance of institutional investors into a small cap’s register is big news, as it provides validation that the company is big enough and growing well enough to spark the interest of large money managers.

Disappointing drilling results from a nickel project in Western Australia sent Mithril Resources shares plummeting 23 per cent to 1c this week.
Three holes drilled at the northern end of its “Kurnalpi” project found no significant nickel. The main nickel sulphide target was not reached due to unfavourable ground conditions.
Nickel resources are usually either nickel sulphide or laterite – sulphide ores are easier and cheaper to produce than laterite nickel.
Drill testing of this main nickel sulphide target remains a priority, but Mithril will probably need to use diamond drilling to reach it.
