Special Report: Former Aussie cricketer Shane Lee has joined the executive team at Thrive Tribe Technologies to help drive its international business development and manage sporting and celebrity signings.
Thrive Tribe Technologies (ASX:1TT) has scored a six, announcing well-known former Aussie cricketer will join the wellbeing marketplace and use his international appeal to help drive business development.
Shane and his brother Brett – who also represented Australia – are an internationally recognised cricketers who have both featured in multiple major international brand marketing campaigns such as Weet-Bix.
Adding to his commercial marketing experience, Lee brings an international audience from also playing in the UK and India where he and his brother maintain a significant profile, having nurtured business and entertainment industry connections.
In addition to representing Australia and captaining NSW, Lee’s career has included countless TV appearances, and he even still performs to this day in the rock group Six & Out along with his brother Brett and four former NSW teammates.
The band first formed in 1999 and was active until 2005. Almost two decades later, Six & Out reunited at the request of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in 2023.
1TT is hopeful Lee will help sign a minimum of two more major internationally recognised celebrities for the group.
1TT says it was essential to recruit not just a celebrity, but someone who can provide a blueprint for future success on and off the field to current sporting identities and celebrities.
“We are thrilled to have Shane join 1TT and be elevated to the leadership team as recruiting numerous sporting identities and celebrities are a crucial part of 1TT’s plans for its product suite,” 1TT director Josh Quinn says.
“The board has conducted an extensive search for the right candidate to spearhead this initiative.
“Shane is the right fit for 1TT because a crucial part of our strategy is to set sporting stars up for their careers once they retire. “
Quinn says Lee’s success playing for Australia is only one dimension of what he brings to 1TT.
“His success during his career alongside Brett securing a major advertising contract with Weet-Bix and success in media and business which has lasted for over 20 years post his playing career is an inspiration to other sporting identities and a compelling argument as to why they should join 1TT,” he says.
“Shane is the blueprint for how sporting identities and celebrities can remain successful and relevant for an extended period during and post their playing careers.
“To this day, Shane still hosts a podcast named Lunch with Lee and has interviewed the likes of Robbie Williams, Gladys Berejiklian, Karl Stefanovic, Johnathan Thurston, George Gregan and countless other sporting identities and celebrities.”
1TT is creating a community through its in-development ‘Sixty’ platform, where individuals can interact with, consume from, and be inspired by individuals and businesses trailblazing new paths across multiple industries.
The company has been updating existing functionality such as enhanced dashboards for easier navigation and a library for easy-to-use storage, and building out the Sixty platform to enhance the user experience:
In September 2023, 1TT upped its stake in healthy snack maker Daily Food from 37.5% to 54% to become the majority stakeholder.
Daily Food has become a central health food brand for 1TT, which invests in companies in the health and wellness space providing them with the “resources, support, and technology they need to thrive and make a positive impact in the world”.
In the past nine months, Daily Food has launched their Super Bites into Woolworths Metro stores and WHSmith stores on the East Coast, secured partnerships with Better Foods / The Forage Company, and executed distribution across independent stores in VIC, NSW, ACT and QLD.
