Uvre secures key data for priority lithium prospect targeting at South Pass

Special Report: Uvre has secured key data from a high-resolution helicopter magnetic and gamma-ray spectrometric geophysical survey that will help priority prospect targeting at its South Pass lithium project in Wyoming.

The results published by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) follows on first pass sampling confirming that lithium is present at South Pass.

Laboratory analysis of rock chips also returned grades of up to 390ppm lithium at the Billy prospect,  with 10 samples returning >300ppm lithium.

Notably for Uvre (ASX:UVA), the results served to confirm that elevated lithium in pegmatites are present with K/Rb ratios indicating that these pegmatites are likely of the lithium-caesium-tantalum type.

The results also boosted the scale potential of South Pass where outcropping LCT pegmatites have been mapped over a 1km by 20-50m wide area.

Targeting data

UVA can now narrow down its targeting efforts after data from the USGS and WSGS surveying defined a 1.6km northeast striking structure that is coincident with the Billy prospect and mapped LCT pegmatites.

This structure is a likely extension of mapped Proterozoic dykes and has the same orientation as the mapped pegmatite contact where Billy is located.

It also defines a deep-seated structural corridor and geological plumbing system to assess for lithium mineralisation within the outcropping pegmatites.

Magnetic data also defined deep craton scale northeast structures (dykes) cut through the project with orientation consistent with those in observed pegmatites such as Billy and Johnny.

“The high-resolution helicopter magnetic and gamma-ray spectrometric geophysical survey could not have come at a better time for our 2024 field season and just after the discovery of Billy and Jonny prospects by Uvre’s field team,” managing director Pete Woods said.

“The deep craton scale northeast striking structures defined by the processed magnetic images are likely Proterozoic dykes and are consistent with the strike of regionally mapped pegmatite orientations including Billy and Jonny outcropping LCT pegmatite prospects.

“Uvre is delighted with this observation as it provides a consistent strike and focussed search space to test for the distribution and grade of lithium, along a deep craton scale system of pegmatite co-incident with mafic dikes.

“The Jonny prospect is not directly associated with a northeast structure however in the magnetics appears to be an area of structural complexity and pegmatites immediately east also strike northeast.”

 

More exploration planned

Uvre’s next stage of proposed work at South Pass will initially focus on more targeted surface sampling of the outcropping pegmatites and possibly a soil sample program over the Billy and Jonny prospects to test for lithium-bearing pegmatites.

This work program will be developed and finalised once the results of testing is received.
