• An ultra-fine soil sampling program has kicked off at the Highway project
  • Taiton is targeting molybdenum, gold and nickel-copper-PGE prospectivity
  • Three targets will be the focus of the program as the company continues to finetune its vectoring for a discovery

Special Report: Taiton Resources has expanded its initial exploration focus at the Highway project in South Australia with a wide-scale, ultra-fine (UF) soil sampling program across three new prospects.

This is the first step in Taiton’s (ASX:T88) expanded exploration efforts at the Highway project to assess multiple styles of mineralisation including precious, base metals and rare earth elements.

The UF soil sampling program will begin at the Garfield prospect on a nominal 200m by 400m grid, where a shallower expression of a felsic intrusion has been defined based on magnetic imagery.

It will then move across to Pluto, which has very broad (1,600m by 1,400m) historical calcrete sampling in the southern area where low-level gold and molybdenum up to 7.5ppm was returned.

Finally, the sampling program will test the Snoopy prospect, covering 12km strike of the interpreted Harris greenstone belt, home to the Harris komatiite where most of the prospect is covered by aeolian sand and colluvium sediments.

T88 believes the Lake Harris komatiite boasts potential for nickel-copper sulphide and gold mineralising systems with broad-spaced calcrete sampling returning sporadic low-level gold results up to 12ppb gold.

Potential for a polymetallic system

“After initially focusing on the Merino prospect, we are now expanding our horizons within Highway to identify and demonstrate the potential we believe exists,” T88 executive director Noel Ong says.

“We believe Highway has the potential to be a polymetallic mineralisation system, the three areas are just the beginning of our search within the greater expanse of the project site.

“The team is continuously working to fine tune our vectoring for a discovery.”

Production pathway underway at Kingsgate

T88 will maintain its exploration focus both at Highway and Challenger West throughout the rest of the calendar year.

It is also preparing a production pathway for its recently acquired Kingsgate high-grade molybdenum and high-purity quartz project in NSW.
