Running with the Horses: Resolution Minerals stuns with 49.8% Antimony and 1420 g/t Silver at Horse Heaven

  • Grab sampling at Antimony Ridge target returns up to 49.8% antimony, 1420g/t silver and 4.43g/t gold
  • Soil sampling increases mineralised zone at the target to 1000m by 700m, increasing scale of Horse Heaven
  • Resolution Minerals is carrying out metallurgical testing, planning further sampling and drilling

Special Report: Resolution Minerals has laid out further evidence of just how prospective its Horse Heaven project in Idaho is, after sampling returned extremely high-grade antimony, silver and gold assays.

Peak results from the recently completed surface rock chip and soil sampling program at the Antimony Ridge target include grab sample 730253 – 49.8% antimony, 1420g/t silver and 3.12g/t gold – and grab sample 730255 – 10.35% antimony, 68.5g/t silver and 4.43g/t gold.

These are one of the highest recorded antimony grades ever reported in North America.

Soil sampling also returned peak results of 0.5% antimony, 0.9g/t gold and 68g/t silver.

Collectively, these results support historical sampling that had delineated broad antimony-gold-silver mineralisation over significant widths at Antimony Ridge.

What’s important for Resolution Minerals (ASX:RML) is the work has defined a 1000m by 700m zone of high-grade mineralisation that’s materially larger than previously estimated.

Prior trench rock chip results up to 5.9g/t gold, 19% antimony and 367g/t silver are located centrally within this expanded northeast-southwest trending zone of antimony-silver-gold mineralisation.

This mineralisation is exposed at surface along 500m of historical trenching where production of high-grade antimony from small open pits was recorded during the periods of World War 2, and into the early 1950s.

A larger opportunity

The company’s chief executive officer of US operations Craig Lindsay said Resolution was encouraged by the results as they indicate the mineralised target is larger than initially thought.

“As we expand outwards from the immediate area of the historic workings, we look to expand the target even further,” he added.

“Indeed, Horse Heaven is revealing itself to be a much larger opportunity as we conduct modern multi-disciplined exploration across the project area. Its potential as a very significant antimony, gold, silver and tungsten project is crystalising.”

Grades seen by RML are rare by any standard.

“Not all antimony is equal. High grades around 50% antimony are truly rare – and usually reflect crystalline antimony, potentially available for direct shipping ore as an oxide. This is because high grade antimony requires limited processing – and is therefore sought after,” senior strategic advisor Steve Promnitz said.

The company is currently collecting representative samples of antimony from stibnite-silica vein exposures at Antimony Ridge to conduct preliminary metallurgical test work.

Other activity

RML plans to carry out further rock chip sampling, mapping and bulk sampling at Antimony Ridge to help refine targets for a later planned drill program.

Additionally, a thorough analysis of the rock chip results for Antimony Ridge and Golden Gate is ongoing.

The company is also conducting a project-wide stream sediment program and a drill program at the Golden Gate target, which the company reports is progressing well.

It has completed six holes to date at Golden Gate and is currently drilling a seventh hole with samples from the first two holes submitted to ALS for assaying, and will report drill results when available.
