Norwest has started drilling to test its high-priority Arunta West project in Western Australia for rare earths, copper-gold and base metals.
The 20-hole program totalling 2,000m will test a REE anomaly with the associated metals which it had identified in February 2022 from geochemical sampling.
This anomaly is defined by coincident cerium, lanthanum and yttrium extending along a 3km section of the geological contact between the Mount Webb granite and Bitter Springs Group sediments.
Norwest Minerals (ASX:NWM) had previously noted that the anomaly is broadly similar to the high-grade Dazzler and Iceman REE deposits at the third party Browns Range project located outside Halls Creek, Western Australia, albeit its coincident cerium and lanthanum surface samples having a tenor twice of those used to identify those deposits.

“The Norwest drilling follows the announcement by explorer WA1 Resources Limited (ASX: WA1) of the two REE discoveries on its West Arunta project located nearby.”
