Special Report: Drilling has uncovered a zone of high-grade gold within the existing resource at Golden Rim’s Kouri project in Burkina Faso.

The 1m zone grading 42.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from a depth of 65m is located within a broader interval of 18m at 3.4g/t gold from 54m in the northern portion of the 1.4-million-ounce resource.

Anything over 5g/t is usually considered high-grade.

Other results from the infill drilling include 13m at 1.1g/t gold from 92m and 13m at 1.2g/t gold from 125m within the same hole.

Besides confirming the upside for additional, high-grade gold mineralisation within the current resource, Golden Rim Resources’ (ASX:GMR) drilling has also extended mineralisation up to 550m northeast of the resource into the Kogodou prospect.

Latest results from Kogodou, which is directly east of the resource, include 3m at 3.4g/t gold from 11m, 2m at 1.5g/t gold from 4m and 10m at 0.8g/t gold from 41m.

That this extension remains open highlights experienced explorer, mine builder and company director Adonis Pouroulis’ belief that Kouri is a “vast, swarming gold system”.

Drilling is ongoing and a resource update is expected in the June 2020 quarter.

“Our drilling has now confirmed the gold lodes that comprise the mineral resource extend for a further 550m and remain open,” managing director Craig Mackay said.

“We are also looking to extend the mineral resource at depth and by infill drilling of gaps that exist in the mineral resource in a number of areas.

“Our initial deeper and infill drilling in the northern portion of the mineral resource has produced exciting results.

“We are seeing broader and higher-grade gold mineralisation with strong depth continuity, suggesting considerable upside to the mineral resource may exist in this area.”

Burkina Faso is Africa’s third largest exploration jurisdiction for gold and the continent’s fourth largest producer.

Kouri is connected to a major fault system which controls a number of mammoth gold deposits in Burkina Faso, like Kiaka (5.9moz), Bomboré (5.2moz), Essakane (7moz) and Sanbrado (2.8moz).
